Default GE HMI upgrades

Can anyone comment on the HMI upgrades available from GE?
We have a MKV system with windows 2000. We dont have any issues with the HMI but heard that many are moving towards Vista based operating system. any real benefits with the upgrade?

Windows XP is windows 200 with remote capabilities, which helps GE with their Modeling Software and remote troubleshooting.
This is a $1M + undertaking

highvoltage,

i cant accept your reasoning for upgrading just bcoz of Vista ! as a matter of fact, Microsoft Vista will be replaced with Windows 7 soon!

my advice is, stay w/ what u have now. dont waste your money.

p/s : were still on WINNT, Cimplicity 4.0

I believe windows XP allows for the installation of SSP for greater cyber security that will conform to NERC CIP regulations. You should wait for windows 7, but make sure its proven to be reliable before installing it on your HMI's!

Rob

We just upgraded our MK VI with windows XP. It runs alot more stable than the previous system we were running. But we don't have ours hooked up to the network so it can't be tampered with.
