I am not a vibration expert but a seismic vibration sensor is typically mounted on the bearing housing which monitors total in/sec motion of the unit. For a bently Proximitor, it measures shaft movement relative to its gap. The proximitor can sense oil whip, imbalance of the unit, alignment issues, etc but the seismics will monitor vibration that will cause catestrophic failure of the unit. Does the SGT-400 have smart capabilities to diagnose what type of vibration the sensors are seeing? What are the alarm and trip limits?
I believe on the GE units its .5in/sec to alarm and 1in/sec for trip on the seismics and the bently proximitors just monitors and alarms.
