Default Problems with maintaining oxygen levels

We are having issues with maintaining oxygen levels in the deaerator storage tank. Im a new Boiler Tech and have no clue where to start researching the issue. The temperature of the feedwater is within specifications as is the pressure. Please help steer me in the right direction. thanks

If your deaerator has a vent condernsor, I would check to see that it is working properly. You can increase the cooling water flow, adjust the deaerator vent to vent more . On the next outage, you may want to consider inspecting the poppet valves and trays for damage.

How are you testing dissolved oxygen?

I would recommended replacing all of the spray valves and trays. This alone would reduce the dissolved oxygen levels and stop one part of the sulfide and oxygen attack. To prevent future problems, you should incorporate a yearly maintenance schedule to catch upsets and problems before they get out of hand.

Some of the things that we do with our DA when we see high O2 levels we open up the DA vents to lower the levels. For us it usually takes about three shifts to lower the levels of the oxeygen. Also we use an Oxygen scavenger.

Check DO on the condenser.

Check condenser air removal equipment and air in-leakage flow.
