Hi all,
Im quite a beguinner on this DCS. Currently, im working on implementing a modbus/TCP communication against Ovation. The "problem" is that I cannot use DataLink functionality to use it as the modbus/TCP client, so my intention is to perform an outward-ovation modbus/tcp client, and communicate to the ovation highway using some other application or functionality. Ive been said theres an ovation program called "inject" which works with files. That allows the programmer to access to point values. This would fit perfectly on my layout since its extactly what i seek: acces to ovation highway, i.e., I wanna change ovation point values depending on the informatios arrived externally from modbus communication. Does anyone know something about that "inject" program? Thanx a lot in advance, G. |

We have a modbus (OV290-UNX) data from the GE MKV to emerson ovation DCS. It communicates through GSM which picks the points directly from the TCS HMI rather than assigning addresses for each point. Regarding the inject program, Ive never heard of it. What is the DCS communicating with? TCS, PLCs, RTUs, OPC historian?

Hi TECHguy,
Ovation communicates with the alarm system. Specifically, there is a hub to which all the alarms are wired. This hub has modbus server functionalities, so what ive planned to do is a client on ovation side. Anyway, my main doubt is how can I manage to modify a point value from a external (to ovation) code (app). Thanks again! |
