Default How to Obtain Gas Turbine Vibration Analysis Bearing Info

Hello,

Any tips on how to obtain bearing fault frequencies or bearing geometry to calculate the fault frequencies, as well as gear tooth counts on the accessory drives, etc. from the manufacturer? We operate five Allison 501-KB's and I feel like I'm running into a brick wall over and over again trying to get this info from Rolls Royce and Rolls Wood Group. I CANNOT understand why anyone other than a bu$ine$$ major would think this is sensitive info.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
I have often found that sometimes it is best to go to the manufacturer of the item. This is not always the OEM especially when it comes to prefabricated skids and bearings. For instanace GE uses Orion and Babbitt inc for bearings.. which i am sure if you find out who made the bearing, they will provide you with the fracture and dimensional information. Also for the gear drive, such as Philadelphia gear is often supplied with OEM turbine assemblies. Go to the manufacturer of the product because sometimes the OEM just doent know or are apprehensive to disclose such information.
good luck!
Regards,
Robert
